Explore the town and the Birdsville racetrack before venturing off road to the largest sand dune in the Simpson Desert ‘Big Red’. Farewell civilisation as your pilot flies you over cattle station country before touching down in Burketown, complete with vast rivers, mangroves, salt pans and aboriginal culture. Here you will be guided on a cultural 4WD tour by local indigenous guides, experience the star gazing this area is renown for.

Experience parts of the Gulf that very few ever get to. Explore Mornington Island, a restricted indigenous area, with a vibrant and well known art centre. Enjoy a private tour hosted by some local artists before a short hop across to Karumba. Board a cruise boat for a trip up the Norman River spotting wildlife and checking mud-crab pots before pulling up on a sand island to dine on the freshest seafood imaginable.

A drive through some lovely Cape York savannah country to the galleries, a very rewarding experience, with a picnic lunch out in the woodlands. Another brief flight to Mt Mulligan Station’s private runway for a stay at this remote, picturesque and extremely comfortable outback retreat.

Today, we will do a walk closer by the lodge and then head up to Rolleston for lunch, before setting course homeward, refuelling in Roma and Griffith touching down in Essendon Airport, Melbourne in the early evening.
We always keep our group size to no more than 8 passengers, accompanied by our experienced tour leaders and pilot.
In doing so, it means you can access truly remote locations and boutique lodges where other groups can’t go, plus you won’t get lost in a crowd of other tourists.
